The United States and South Korea will establish a combined division of their military forces to prepare for a contingency on the Korean Peninsula.
美國和南韓將為它們的部隊設立一個組合師準備應付朝鮮半島的突發事故

South Korea‘s defense ministry announced on Thursday that they agreed on the combined division between the military and US troops deployed in the country.
南韓國防部在週四宣佈他們同意韓軍與美軍的混編組合師部署在南韓

The ministry said the new unit will begin operations in the first half of next year. It said a US commander plans to head the newly-made joint staff of the combined unit with a South Korean officer.

Sources close to the defense ministry said the move was proposed by the US. They said that in the event of a conflict, the new division will be tasked with destroying weapons of mass destruction such as nuclear and chemical weapons.
